Abstract

Extruded profiles are widely used but their design is still difficult. Several parameters have to be considered. This is particularly true when complex geometries, i. e. non-symmetric or hollow profiles have to be obtained. A novelmetamodel technique was proposed to define the relationship between input and output process parameters in porthole die extrusion. An iterative dynamic DOE was finally used to improve the accuracy of the model around the most promising area of the process domain.
