The paper presents the results of the excavation of an underground chamber tomb of the Archaic period located on Rüzgâr Tepe, in the northern chora of Kyme (Turkey). The architectural features of the tomb are examined comparing with similar funerary monuments in the Anatolian peninsula and in other Mediterranean regions, in terms of the necessary historical-topographic scheme of reference. Inside the tomb, desecrated over the centuries, no object of the probably very rich grave contents was found. A majestic building, enriched inform by the ogival outline of the inner ceiling and the chamber entrance, its decorative ornateness represented by fresco plaster – usually characterizing the tombs of urban élite – distinguish the monument of Rüzgâr Tepe from others used by the rest of the population and qualify the social status of the tomb’s eminent owner.
