Placental protein 13 (PP13) induces hypotension in rats. This study aims to evaluate PP13 effecton isolated uterine arteries from 27 non-pregnant and mid-pregnant rats. Vessels were isolated, cannulated and pressurized to 50 mmHg within an arteriography, preconstricted and exposed toincreasing PP13 concentrations (10-13-10-8M). PP13 elicited 38-50% arterial vasodilation withhalf-maximum response (EC50)=1pM. The relaxation was mediated by activating the endothelialsignaling pathways of prostaglandin and nitric oxide (NO) (but not the vascular smooth musclecells). Accordingly, these results encourage evaluation of PP13 as a possible therapy forgestational diseases characterized by insufficient uteroplacental blood flow and/or maternalhypertension

Abstract
Accordingly, these results encourage evaluation of PP13 as a possible therapy forgestational diseases characterized by insufficient uteroplacental blood flow and/or maternalhypertensionI documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
