La ricostruzione grafica del pavimento musivo di una Villa Romana

Graphic documentation proves to be significantly useful in the knowledge process aimed at the conservation and/or restoration of a historic building since it helps reconstruct its anamnesis. It is a knowledge tool that represents and records the state of conservation and the possible restoration actions carried out on the asset and, as a result, it allows completing and integrating the information already provided by the photographic dossier. That is the reason why a complex mosaic floor, which decorates a typical environment in a Roman villa located on the shores of Lake Esaro, in the town of Roggiano Gravina, Cosenza, Italy, was graphically reconstructed. The explanation of such a reconstruction, which was performed by means of specific graphic design and vector drawing software, is meant to highlight the important contribution of computer drawing to virtually recovering the original geometric configuration of the mosaics of the floor of the villa by providing useful information to define a proper diagnostic plan
