In this article, we will look at metaphor, translation and the conflict of enunciations with Cesare Beccaria and his numerous French translators from the 18th to the 21st century. The French translators of the 20th and 21st centuries have made an effort to be as faithful as possible to a style of attack that is highly effective, but also deliberately obscure. It is not always easy, to use Barbara Folkart's expressions, to manage to avoid distorting the rhetoric of the text. With this disfiguring, even "parodistic" tendency to annexation, the translation of the law allows, for the cases that interest us here, to give rise to beautiful cases of expressive enlightenment and reinforcement.
