Quiescent centre ontogenesis has been studied during germination of Allium cepa L. seeds, starting from the onset of DNA synthesis in the embryo root meristems. The resumption of cell cycling activity in the meristem occurs late during root protrusion and the quiescent centre becomes well defined when the root is 5 mm long. The establishment of the quiescent centre in growing roots is related to structural changes of embryo radicle during germination. These results are discussed in relation to the role of the quiescent centre in the root growth. Copyright © 1992, Wiley Blackwell. All rights reserved

Abstract
Quiescent centre ontogenesis has been studied during germination of Allium cepa L. seeds, starting from the onset of DNA synthesis in the embryo root meristems. The resumption of cell cycling activity in the meristem occurs late during root protrusion and the quiescent centre becomes well defined when the root is 5 mm long. The establishment of the quiescent centre in growing roots is related to structural changes of embryo radicle during germination. These results are discussed in relation to the role of the quiescent centre in the root growth. Copyright © 1992, Wiley Blackwell. All rights reservedFile in questo prodotto:
