The authors present the results of a geophysical study carried out at the site of Torre Galli, near the town of Drapia (VV, Calabria, Italy). Here archaeological excavations unearthed one of the most significant sites for the study of the Early Iron Age in Calabria. Because of the large extent of the archaeological area and the scarcity of surface clues identifying especially promising investigation areas, a high resolution geophysical survey (magnetic and EM) was carried out in 2012 to highlight the features and position of the main buried structures. This allowed the diggers to improve the prospect of success for local investigations in terms of cost-benefit ratio. The techniques used for analysis and interpretation of geophysical data revealed several anomalies, mostly having regular geometrical shapes. Finally, excavations were carried out at two points chosen on the basis of geophysical analysis. Both excavations yielded positive results, revealing archaeologically interesting structures.
