Abstract
In the process of Italian unification (1861-1914), the Italian government entrusted a crucial role in shaping a new Italian national identity not only to the school system, but also to the army – seen as one of the «the true school of the Nation». The complexity of the issue of civilian and military schooling during the Liberal Age – also with regard to the way in which they both worked and reciprocally interacted – is strictly intertwined with the theme of the so-called “national pedagogy” and of its reception in regimental school practices of teaching as well as in school resources (textbooks, exercise-books, maps etc.) throughout the country. A clear state of the art in this field is illustrated, as resulting from the Author’s current researches carried out on recruits’ memoirs, pamphlets about regimental schooling, military spelling- and reading-books.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
