In the decade between the fifties and sixties of the twentieth century, in a corner of Calabria where research takes place, the spread of industrial soaps revolutionizes in a short time the world of local smells. The recursive expression “scent of clean” appears to be linked exclusively to a leaching process and to a bodily memory that makes it possible to enhance a certain version of the past. The collective and negotiated reconstruction of this smellscape of memory, and its analysis, allow us to reflect on how the sensoriality is articulated in a social context and how perceptions are always constructed in a network of local meanings. In particular, it reflects on the model of sensorium that emerges from the interviews, and on the role that the senses seem to have in filtering, interpreting, validating a series of informations that build up a shared memory.

Abstract
In the decade between the fifties and sixties of the twentieth century, in a corner of Calabria where research takes place, the spread of industrial soaps revolutionizes in a short time the world of local smells. The recursive expression “scent of clean” appears to be linked exclusively to a leaching process and to a bodily memory that makes it possible to enhance a certain version of the past. The collective and negotiated reconstruction of this smellscape of memory, and its analysis, allow us to reflect on how the sensoriality is articulated in a social context and how perceptions are always constructed in a network of local meanings. In particular, it reflects on the model of sensorium that emerges from the interviews, and on the role that the senses seem to have in filtering, interpreting, validating a series of informations that build up a shared memory.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
