In April 2020, the University of Calabria, Italy and the dhbw, Germany, jointly agreed on an inter-university research project to analyse expectations and experiences regarding the corona lockdown at the two universities. The programme consists of two phases. Phase one was concerned with surveys and analyses that focused on the period before the start of or during the first half of the lockdown semester (assessments, moods, first experiences). Phase two includes retrospective surveys and analyses conducted after the end of the lockdown semester with the aim of assessing learning outcomes. The results illustrated in this paper deal with Phase one at the University of Calabria and were presented to the public and to the Minster of University and Research in June 2020.
