This paper will focus on some issues about the new application of teaching in the virtual space. Firstly, the social situation of global emergency generated by covid-19 will be considered. Then, it will be underlined how the teaching process can be defined and sometimes improved by distance learning, through the use of specific methodologies: this urges teachers’ educational responsibility. However, the educational process can be compromised if there is no physical space where the relationship between students and teacher can be built, in particular considering Special Educational Needs. In this case, the teacher is involved as “care-giver”, according to the care ethics paradigm as theorized by Joan Tronto.
