The essay analyzes 38 high-school textbooks currently on the market to ascertain how they deal with the Italian “Risorgimento”. The first part examines the authors’ profiles, some crucial didactical issues, the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Education, and the role played in writing textbooks by editors and advisors working for the publishing houses. The second part analyzes how many pages are devoted to this topic, the periodization and the historiographical categories used by the authors, and to what extent the most recent historiography on the Italian unification process permeates the textbooks.
L’intervento esamina come il Risorgimento sia oggi trattato nella manualistica per le scuole superiori di II grado. Analizzando un campione di 38 corsi attualmente in commercio, nella prima parte si ragiona sugli autori, su alcune questioni concernenti la didattica della storia e sui condizionamenti normativi ed editoriali. Nella seconda parte, si passa poi ad analizzare lo spazio dedicato al tema, le periodizzazioni proposte, le categorie storiografiche utilizzate e come viene recepita la più aggiornata storiografia sull’unificazione nazionale italiana.
