In July 2020, within the complex of the Terme del Lacus, in the Submerged Archaeological Park of Baiae, the complete restoration of a small room paved with a polychrome octagonal mosaic was carried out at a depth of 4.5 meters. In situ conservation activities were preceded by stratigraphic survey and tests which gave the possibility to identify the various building phases of the environment and to provide valuable proof of the effects that Phlegraean bradyseism had on the buildings located along the coast of Baianus lacus. Underwater consolidation and restoration activities have been an opportunity to experiment with innovative methods and materials, through the use of an underwater mortar that allows a v ersatility and use entirely comparable to those used in restoration on land.

Abstract
In July 2020, within the complex of the Terme del Lacus, in the Submerged Archaeological Park of Baiae, the complete restoration of a small room paved with a polychrome octagonal mosaic was carried out at a depth of 4.5 meters. In situ conservation activities were preceded by stratigraphic survey and tests which gave the possibility to identify the various building phases of the environment and to provide valuable proof of the effects that Phlegraean bradyseism had on the buildings located along the coast of Baianus lacus. Underwater consolidation and restoration activities have been an opportunity to experiment with innovative methods and materials, through the use of an underwater mortar that allows a v ersatility and use entirely comparable to those used in restoration on land.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
