Abstract

In this work, the results of a survey campaign aimed at defining the geological- geotechnical features of the small "islet" on which is set the monumental fortress of Le Castella (Crotone area, Calabria region), dating back to the Aragonese period (XV century AD), will be exposed. The “islet” is actually connected to the mainland by a strip of land . As the entire Crotone area is notoriously affected by historical subsidence, as well as by widespread collapses at the land-sea interface, also due to "lateral spreading" phenomena, the substantial structural integrity of the fortress appears singular.
