The contribution wonders about the organized volunteering in Italy from the 2008 crisis to the pandemic emergency. It consists of two parts. The first part recomposes the most significant changes in the identity of voluntary organizations in Italy, highlighting the internal he-terogeneity of this segment of organized solidarity and the trends of activities and actions oriented to protect rights. The second part, through documents and databases from Caritas sources, proposes a focus on general volunteering between the two cri-ses, investigating the change of services and advocacy. Concluding remarks emerge on the adaptive tendency of voluntary or-ganizations and the presence of some innovation traces referable to the strengthening of advocacy and the participation of young volunteers.
