Agnolo Bronzino has been at the center of several studies since the Nineties of the 20th century. They focused on his intellectual personality with great historical precision and interpretative density. The most significant achievement of this renewed interest in Bronzino has been, with no doubt, the considerable re-evaluation of his pictorial and poetic production. In the past, the first one has been often interpreted in a negative key as the result of an exclusively formal and decorative research. The second one, on the other hand, if not completely forgotten, has been considered of extraordinarily little relevance. The re-examination of Bronzino’s poetic production lead to the analysis of the close relationships he cultivated with the writers of his time. In this way it has been possible to better evaluate the cultural context in which he worked, revealing his great erudition, through some sort of reconciliation between form and content. In this perspective, Bronzino’s paintings cannot be read only as the manifestation of Medici’s cult of magnificence. This study will take advantage of this renewed critical framework and examine some of his poems and paintings. The aim is to read, in parallel, his double production, highlighting contaminations and conflicts between Bronzino poet and Bronzino painter.

Abstract
The aim is to read, in parallel, his double production, highlighting contaminations and conflicts between Bronzino poet and Bronzino painter.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
