This article proposes a lexical-semantic analysis of the doctrinal Nahuatl terminology in Bernardino de Sahagún's Colloquios. The aim is to show that such a functional variety of Nahuatl should be considered as a specialised language and not simply as a register. The analysis of semantic neology with particular attention to the resemantization of diphrasisms in a Trinitarian key shows the importance of phraseology in the transmission of concepts that are difficult to convey, such as that of the Holy Spirit.

Abstract
This article proposes a lexical-semantic analysis of the doctrinal Nahuatl terminology in Bernardino de Sahagún's Colloquios. The aim is to show that such a functional variety of Nahuatl should be considered as a specialised language and not simply as a register. The analysis of semantic neology with particular attention to the resemantization of diphrasisms in a Trinitarian key shows the importance of phraseology in the transmission of concepts that are difficult to convey, such as that of the Holy Spirit.File in questo prodotto:
