Learned, intelligent, capable of interpreting the evolution of events, he also shows in Thucydides' historical work great skills of psychological insight. Exploring in greater depth this aspect of his personality, the paper shows that Hermocrates was considered by the Athenian historian, alongside Pericles, as one of the best interpreters of the intelligence of emotions and their rational use.
