A tapering data window based on the Reactance Transformation is here introduced to improve the exponential swept-sine method for the characterization of non-linear systems through a cascade of Hammerstein models. To verify the proposed procedure, a non-linear circuit has been built, and the sidelobes suppression capability of the proposed window has been compared with those of other windows of common use, i.e. Hann, Tukey, and Blackman. It is found that the reactance-based window enhances the quality of the reconstructed impulse responses associated to the system's non-linearities. The best results are obtained when the exponential swept-sine is defined up to the Nyquist frequency value.
