The article proposes an analysis of the poems in Balam Rodrigo's Libro centroamericano de los muertos (2018), dedicated to the stories of Central American migrants through the Northern Triangle route to the United States, in order to show that his poetic discourse is an aesthetic and political response to the migration crisis. The first part of the text defines the specific context, and then inserts Central American migration into the ‘systemic crisis’ and the broader dynamics of capitalism and coloniality. In the second part of the text, the representative strategies used by the Mexican poet are explored in greater depth, and a dialogue with the photographs (one by Salgado, the others in the text) is proposed in order to delve into the relationship between presence and absence in the images and poems about migration.

Abstract
The article proposes an analysis of the poems in Balam Rodrigo's Libro centroamericano de los muertos (2018), dedicated to the stories of Central American migrants through the Northern Triangle route to the United States, in order to show that his poetic discourse is an aesthetic and political response to the migration crisis. The first part of the text defines the specific context, and then inserts Central American migration into the ‘systemic crisis’ and the broader dynamics of capitalism and coloniality. In the second part of the text, the representative strategies used by the Mexican poet are explored in greater depth, and a dialogue with the photographs (one by Salgado, the others in the text) is proposed in order to delve into the relationship between presence and absence in the images and poems about migration.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
