This paper aims to demonstrate how phenomena of deviance and criminality, falling within the field of legal sociology, could be better understood and countered by employing methods of analysis, theoretical approaches, and intersections between sociology, criminology, neuroscience, and social work. The contribution relies on a single case study, inherently longitudinal, concerning the deprivation of liberty of a young person, lasting twenty-two years, in two total institutions, prison and a Forensic Psychiatric Hospital, for having committed robberies and abused drugs since a young age. Within the scope of this contribution, it is not possible to delve into all aspects of interdisciplinarity; therefore, attention will be focused on the critical analysis of the prison response, in light of the dialogue and recent developments between legal-social disciplines and neuroscience.

Abstract
This paper aims to demonstrate how phenomena of deviance and criminality, falling within the field of legal sociology, could be better understood and countered by employing methods of analysis, theoretical approaches, and intersections between sociology, criminology, neuroscience, and social work. The contribution relies on a single case study, inherently longitudinal, concerning the deprivation of liberty of a young person, lasting twenty-two years, in two total institutions, prison and a Forensic Psychiatric Hospital, for having committed robberies and abused drugs since a young age. Within the scope of this contribution, it is not possible to delve into all aspects of interdisciplinarity; therefore, attention will be focused on the critical analysis of the prison response, in light of the dialogue and recent developments between legal-social disciplines and neuroscience.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
