The Timpone della Motta holds crucial importance in understanding the evolution of the Oenotrian/Chonian community in relation to the nearby colony of Sybaris. However, the preservation of archaeological evidence at the site has been compromised by erosion and human activities, altering the original deposits. The article highlights the fragmentary nature of the data, especially concerning the cultic aspects identified through both ancient and recent excavations. In the context of Stoop’s excavations, a reexamination of the area related to Temple II has been conducted, focusing on stratigraphic aspects and associated artifacts. Regarding recent excavations conducted by the University of Calabria, the study centers on two isolated artifacts, opening new avenues for research that prove promising for the future development of studies in this context.

Abstract
The Timpone della Motta holds crucial importance in understanding the evolution of the Oenotrian/Chonian community in relation to the nearby colony of Sybaris. However, the preservation of archaeological evidence at the site has been compromised by erosion and human activities, altering the original deposits. The article highlights the fragmentary nature of the data, especially concerning the cultic aspects identified through both ancient and recent excavations. In the context of Stoop’s excavations, a reexamination of the area related to Temple II has been conducted, focusing on stratigraphic aspects and associated artifacts. Regarding recent excavations conducted by the University of Calabria, the study centers on two isolated artifacts, opening new avenues for research that prove promising for the future development of studies in this context.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
