This contribution proposes a reflection on the 50 years of life of the University of Calabria, analyzing the role played in a complex territorial context. The article explores the educational challenges posed by digitalization and the crisis of the community dimension, highlighting the importance of promoting digital citizenship education capable of combining technological skills and critical thinking. School and university assume a central role in guiding the new generations towards a conscious participation in the digital society, addressing ethical and educational issues. The need for an integrated pedagogical approach is emphasized to respond to the challenges of contemporaneity and promote social and technological development.
