Abstract

In the paper the high and low temperature characteristics are evaluated for a blown road bitumen compounded with tar and modified with SBS and Elvaloy polymers using experimental and calculation methods. The bitumens stiffness master curves are constructed and approximated using the principle of temperature-time superposition; graphs are constructed for temperature dependences of loss modulus and relaxation times spectra of bitumens. Viscosity, activation energy, modal relaxation time and rut resistance indicator of the bitumens are determined. The obtained positive effects of compounding and modification using a new sealed reactor, the correct processing conditions for modification and microscopic control are explained on the basis of a comparative analysis of the chemical composition for virgin, compounded and modified bitumens.
