This paper presents an enhancement of the Hierarchical Mobile IPv6 protocol, based on a new concept of "distribution areas" and the assignment of multiple LCoAs. It contributes to low latency and packet loss during intra-domain handover events. The size and position of the distribution areas are dynamically adjusted depending on traffic load measurements and terminal/user velocity estimation. Simulation results show that it is possible to trade off packet loss and introduced overhead.

Abstract
This paper presents an enhancement of the Hierarchical Mobile IPv6 protocol, based on a new concept of "distribution areas" and the assignment of multiple LCoAs. It contributes to low latency and packet loss during intra-domain handover events. The size and position of the distribution areas are dynamically adjusted depending on traffic load measurements and terminal/user velocity estimation. Simulation results show that it is possible to trade off packet loss and introduced overhead.File in questo prodotto:
