The sixth excavation season at the Timpone della Motta settlement focused on Plateau I and II. The investigations included the recovery and documentation of structures that had previously been explored only in part by earlier missions, as well as the opening of new trenches aimed at integrating and expanding the stratigraphic record. The excavations uncovered the remains of houses with stone foundations and mudbrick walls dating to the 6th century BC, built on top of remains of prehistoric timber buildings. While the results are preliminary, they confirm the site's continuous occupation from the Middle Bronze Age to the 4th century BC, highlighting its importance in understanding settlement dynamics in the region of Sybaris.

Abstract
The sixth excavation season at the Timpone della Motta settlement focused on Plateau I and II. The investigations included the recovery and documentation of structures that had previously been explored only in part by earlier missions, as well as the opening of new trenches aimed at integrating and expanding the stratigraphic record. The excavations uncovered the remains of houses with stone foundations and mudbrick walls dating to the 6th century BC, built on top of remains of prehistoric timber buildings. While the results are preliminary, they confirm the site's continuous occupation from the Middle Bronze Age to the 4th century BC, highlighting its importance in understanding settlement dynamics in the region of Sybaris.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
