Abstract: Considering the academic scenario, the argument focuses on the challenges that had to be faced and that were determined not by an alleged didactic evolution, increasingly based on Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) but as a direct consequence of a global health emergency (Covid-19). In particular, the article, with special emphasis on the action-oriented approach to teaching Spanish as a foreign language, analyses the re- sults obtained by the Spanish Language and Translation Chair of the University of Calabria in the pandemic period, when mixed methodologies were implemented through dynamic strategies that revealed the advantages and disadvantages of synchronous and asynchronous tools, and therefore the methodological-didactic potential of the system.
