Abstract
New technologies diffusion in the financial sector, particularly the adoption of artificial intelligence algorithms in the production and distribution of financial services, has significant impacts on human rights. These technologies provide greater efficiency, accessibility, and customization, but they also raise significant issues in terms of transparency, accountability, and fairness. This study aims to reflect on how financial innovation may interfere with some rights, particularly the right to protection of personal data and the principle of non-discrimination, respectively enshrined in Articles 8 and Article 21 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union. After a brief overview of how technological innovation are adopted in the financial sector, the study focuses on main ethical and regulatory issues raised by the use of automated technologies, and it concludes with a reflection on the balance between financial innovation and the protection of human rights, including an analysis of the results of a survey conducted by the Bank of Italy.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
