Abstract

To address the socio-demographic, economic, and environmental fragility of small and medium-sized centres, it is necessary to support the development of strategic cooperation through initiatives that go beyond administrative limits. The exchange of specific good practices across the different European countries is a winning strategy for following virtuous paths of synergistic development. This study proposes a comparative analysis between Italian and Spanish cases: two contexts characterised by similar processes of polarisation, but which have adopted different strategies to contain the phenomenon of marginalisation of the Italian “inner areas” and the “España vacía”.
