Vilém Flusser (1920-1991) is best known in Italy for his works on technolo- gy, design, and the media. But he was a well-rounded philosopher, and the common thread that ties his work together – besides the role of language – is a strong sense of the sacred, which is present in all his works but is explored most deeply in his lesser-known ones. In order to show this, I will present here a comparison between one of his earliest books (A história do Diabo) and one written twenty years later (Natural:mente), in order to defend the hypothesis that the latter represents a sort of fulfillment of the former (in disguise – but we know that this is the Devil’s standard modus operandi).

Abstract
Vilém Flusser (1920-1991) is best known in Italy for his works on technolo- gy, design, and the media. But he was a well-rounded philosopher, and the common thread that ties his work together – besides the role of language – is a strong sense of the sacred, which is present in all his works but is explored most deeply in his lesser-known ones. In order to show this, I will present here a comparison between one of his earliest books (A história do Diabo) and one written twenty years later (Natural:mente), in order to defend the hypothesis that the latter represents a sort of fulfillment of the former (in disguise – but we know that this is the Devil’s standard modus operandi).I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
