We report on the first measurements of light scattering studies of the viscoelastic properties of two new metallorganic nematic liquid crystals and of their parent ligand 4-4'-bis(hexyloxy)-azoxybenzene. When the magnetic properties of the liquid crystal are not known, light scattering is an efficient technique to get qualitative and quantitative information on the elastic constants and viscosities. The experimental results are discussed in the light of the molecular structure of the compounds.

Abstract
We report on the first measurements of light scattering studies of the viscoelastic properties of two new metallorganic nematic liquid crystals and of their parent ligand 4-4'-bis(hexyloxy)-azoxybenzene. When the magnetic properties of the liquid crystal are not known, light scattering is an efficient technique to get qualitative and quantitative information on the elastic constants and viscosities. The experimental results are discussed in the light of the molecular structure of the compounds.File in questo prodotto:
