The synthesis of 3,4-bis[(methoxycarbonyl)methyl]tldophene and bis-, ter- and pentatldophenes, withalternating 3,4-bis(methoxycarbonyl)methyl-subsfituted tings, is reported. These new thiophene derivatives arepossible precursors for the preparation of new conducting polymers useful as materials for electronics.
