We present a new application of time-resolved spectroscopy that uses a diode array system. This technique is applied to study the dynamic behavior of viscoelastic deformations in cholesteric liquid crystals. As an example we present measurements performed with cholesteric liquid crystals submitted to either normal or shear strains; the results clearly provide evidence of different deformation modes in each case.

Abstract
We present a new application of time-resolved spectroscopy that uses a diode array system. This technique is applied to study the dynamic behavior of viscoelastic deformations in cholesteric liquid crystals. As an example we present measurements performed with cholesteric liquid crystals submitted to either normal or shear strains; the results clearly provide evidence of different deformation modes in each case.File in questo prodotto:
