The paper reports new faunistical and ecological data on Rosalia alpina (Linnaeus, 1758) in the National Park of Sila, Calabria. This species is listed on Annex II of EU Council regulation 92/43/ EWG and classified as a priority species. For those parts of its distribution range where the populations and mainly its habitat are declining, national conservation measures are urgently needed. For the first time Rosalia alpina was found on Acer opalus and Quercus petraea trees, in Calabria, southern Italy. The results are discussed in a trophic and ecological context, aimed to provide new data on the present distribution and on the conservation status of the species.
