The geomorphological map described covers an area of about 1,720 km2, located on the northeasternpart of Calabria (south Italy); it contributes to the understanding of both long-term landscape evolutionand present-day trends of the Crotone Province. The map, at a 1:75,000 scale, integrates informationcoming from geomorphological analysis of relief, air photo interpretation and fieldwork. It documentsthe interplay between tectonic and climatic controls at different temporal and spatial scales.Several remnants of planation surfaces, developed during late Miocene-early Pliocene, result from ancientlandscape fragmentation and uplift since the Late Pliocene. Marine and alluvial terraces reflectcomplex cycles of erosion and deposition, possibly in relation to climate and tectonism during most ofthe Quaternary. Finally, the present landscape is heavily affected by slope denudational processes such asmass movements, running water processes and wave action. This map may provide the basis for furtheranalyses, representing a useful tool for land management as well as the initial step for the assessment ofgeomorphological hazard and risk.

Abstract
This map may provide the basis for furtheranalyses, representing a useful tool for land management as well as the initial step for the assessment ofgeomorphological hazard and risk.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
