The experimental linewidth of the hydrogen NMR spectrum of benzene dissolved in a nematic solvent (Merck PCH) was analyzed. Experiments performed at different time intervals show that a contribution to spectral linewidth, increasing with spectral frequency, disappears from sample preparation after some months. The residual linewidth can be very well explained in terms of an intermolecular relaxation mechanism. © 1990.

Abstract
The experimental linewidth of the hydrogen NMR spectrum of benzene dissolved in a nematic solvent (Merck PCH) was analyzed. Experiments performed at different time intervals show that a contribution to spectral linewidth, increasing with spectral frequency, disappears from sample preparation after some months. The residual linewidth can be very well explained in terms of an intermolecular relaxation mechanism. © 1990.File in questo prodotto:
