This paper deals with the effect of the background removalprocedure on ground-penetrating radar data in the frameworkof a Born-based inverse-scattering solution approach for ascalar 2-D geometry. The theoretical investigation is performedby resorting to diffraction tomography reasoning, and then it isnumerically confirmed thanks to the singular value decompositionof the operator that connects the unknown contrast functionto the scattered field data achieved under background removal.Numerical and experimental tests are presented.

Abstract
This paper deals with the effect of the background removalprocedure on ground-penetrating radar data in the frameworkof a Born-based inverse-scattering solution approach for ascalar 2-D geometry. The theoretical investigation is performedby resorting to diffraction tomography reasoning, and then it isnumerically confirmed thanks to the singular value decompositionof the operator that connects the unknown contrast functionto the scattered field data achieved under background removal.Numerical and experimental tests are presented.File in questo prodotto:
