The focus is on a particular rite linked to the cult of water which, attested in the Arbëresh context, occurs during a special moment of the “sacred time”, that is the night between Holy Saturday – called “the Saturday of Silence”- and Easter Sunday. This exact time, due to the inscrutable mysteries of destiny, also marked the dramatic epilogue of Gianni’s existential story.

Abstract

This paper presents the preliminary results of an investigation carried out during the Spring of 2021, constantly placing the arbëresh world at the center of a common cultural and intellectual interest which I have always had with Gianni.
