Punica granatum L. (pomegranate) is a fruit consumed worldwide. Several in vitro and in vivo studies have proved that P. granatum exerts antimicrobial, antiinflammatory, antioxidant, antidiabetic, and hypolipidemic activity together with anticancer and neuroprotection effects. These properties could be related predominantly to its polyphenols. The goal of this chapter is to highlight the functional properties of pomegranate, covering published research papers from 2000 to date by accessing electronic databases including Science Direct, PubMed, Web of Science, and other biomedical science databases
